The security of the construction site of the Linglong car tire factory near Zrenjanin tried to stop the team of Dutch journalists NOS (Nederlandse Omroep Stichting) to record the statement of the activist of Gradjanski preokret Ivan Živkov in front of the construction site of the factory.
The members of the security first tried to convince the journalists that they had no right to film, and after it was explained to them that the public space was being filmed and the citizen who was giving a statement is on the street, they jumped between the camera, the journalist and Živkov. At one point, they physically pushed away the cameraman and the camera, so the journalists threatened to call the police.
The security of the construction site shouted in Chinese and English, came close as face to face to journalists, the cameraman and Živkov, and then photographed their vehicles and license plates. All this was happening on a public road, about a hundred meters away from the Linglong construction site.
Gradjanski preokret strongly condemns the arrogant behaviour of the security of the Linglong construction site and considers it a threat to its activists and all citizens.
Today’s incident shows that the company Linglong, in addition to all the other privileges it received in Serbia, is also allowed to regulate the rules of conduct on our streets.
We remind the state authorities that they are obliged to enable public order and safety and respect for the law on the entire territory of the state.
